Biography
I am a 25 year old disabled ski racer, originally from Towson, MD. I was born with a birth defect called PFFD and subsequently had my left foot amputated at seven months old. I first learned to ski when I was six years old with the 52 Association at Jack Frost Mountain, PA. I joined the Winter Park Disabled Ski Team in sixth grade and have been racing with them since. During the winter of 2002/2003 I trained and raced full time with WPDST. I graduated from the Friends School of Baltimore in 2002 and Ithaca College in 2007. For the two summers following graduation I was the waterfront director at the Belle Haven Club in Greenwich, CT. This summer, I was a marketing intern at ChalkTalk SPORTS in Norwalk, CT.
Racing History
I began racing with the Winter Park Disabled Ski Team when I was 13 years old, so I began in the Junior Division. In the winter of 2002/2003, I moved into the Open Division. This puts me up against US Adaptive Ski Team members and other national and international racers. My best results began in 2005 when I competed in a World Cup even in Steamboat Springs, CO. There, I placed 12th and 14th in the two days of slalom racing. That same winter, I placed second in slalom at US Nationals. The following winter I was nominated to the US Paralympic Team to race in the World Championships in Austria and then the Paralympics in Torino, Italy. Unfortunately, due to academic and financial restrictions, I had to decline. I did not race last season due to shoulder surgery. During the Ski Spectacular race, I placed 4th by 0.02 seconds in GS behind a New Zealand national team member, a US national team member, and a Canadian national team member. I finished in 5th place finish in GS and a 2nd place finish in Super G in the Winter Park Open.My Super G finish was the best for an American that day, beating the US Men’s team.In the Huntsman Cup, I came in 2nd in the second Slalom race. These races qualified me to compete in the South Korean World Cup and Japanese World Cup Finals events. Finally I finished 5th overall at the 2008 US Nationals. Results from last season are found in the "Results" section of this website.
